What are your objectives for further study and what are your long range goals?

My current objectives are to build upon what I already know to create a firm technical foundation for musical ideas, to explore the philosophies and practices of my instrument as well as those of other instruments to ensure I am a balanced musician (as opposed to strictly a guitarist), to continue working with both guitarists and other musicians to perform ensemble music, and to begin to form a teaching methodology of my own. I also want to delve into early music and have a full grasp on the guitar's predecessors. Of course, these are life-long challenges, but I have already begun working toward these goals as an undergraduate.

After my undergraduate degree is completed, I intend to continue to graduate school and pursue at least a Master's degree, if not a PhD. When I first started playing guitar, I had three goals: to perform, to become famous, and to travel (albeit, not necessarily in that order). Now that I am a few years older, the idea of being a concert guitarist is still my main aspiration, but I have found that I also have a strong desire to teach. It seems to me that the well-rounded classical guitarist who can teach all ages as well as perform both as a soloist and in ensembles is a rare gem. I hope to one day join those ranks.
